Visit Belmullet Coastguard Station & Pods, luxury glamping pods on Claggan Island (accessible via a sandy causeway) which allow you to enjoy camping in a unique location, with spectacular views! The pods overlook the Mullet Peninsula, Achill Island and the main coastlines of the Erris region – voted the best place in Ireland to go wild!
Claggan Island is a truly unique location, it is one of the Wild Atlantic Way discovery points and it also boasts one of the Tír Sáile sculptures (the North Mayo Sculpture Trail).
The Claggan Island luxury glamping pods allow you to go wild in a cosy & luxurious way – a great escape in stunning surroundings! There is a wonderful welcome from the Howard family, your hosts on Claggan Island, and they are happy to show you around their working farm if you wish.
Another self-catering option is available in Belmullet Coast Guard Station, which is also located on Claggan Island, and managed by the Howard family. The old coast guard station has been renovated to a high standard, with three spacious double bedrooms (two are ensuite), a large bathroom, a living room with solid fuel stove and a fully equipped kitchen.
Claggan Island is 12 kilometres from Belmullet town. Each pod can accommodate up to four adults. Additional tents can be pitched beside the pods, at an extra cost.
