Belmullet is renowned as one of the best sea angling centres in Ireland. The open waters of the wild Atlantic Ocean are a haven for anglers in fine weather, while the bays at Blacksod and Broadhaven are sheltered and equally productive. At least 36 species of game fish are caught regularly in the region. Charter boats are available in the region and the knowledge of the local skippers is well beyond the realms of expectation. The Belmullet Sea Angling Club have been running a very popular international sea angling festival every year for over 40 years.
