The very popular annual Geesala Festival has been running for 25 years and includes: heritage and culture events, horse show-jumping & classes, a dog show, boat racing, children’s activities, a fun fair, angling competitions, live music, clay pigeon shooting, a 10km road race. The festival is a great for experiencing toe-tapping traditional music, cutting edge culture or family-friendly fun! The most popular event of the Geesala Festival is the horse racing and greyhound racing on Doolough Beach, which is said to have inspired John Millington Synge’s masterpiece, ‘The Playboy of the Western World’.
The Geesala Festival takes place from August 11th to 18th in 2024.
