Langans Home & Garden centre – can you guess- is a garden centre, a local store
that also has a website that ships seeds to every part of Ireland. It is as you’d
imagine perfect for getting your Christmas tree from, and they currently have the

Christmas tree decorations, seasonal decorations for inside and outside, and lots of

opportunity came up in the town of Belmullet to open a discount store and has
evolved over the years into a garden centre and home store which basically sells a
wide range of quality goods.
It’s the perfect place to get your Christmas tree from, but if you already have one
(and can’t fit in another!) there are plentiful decorations and homeware to make your
home as inviting as possible, and for gifts there are lots of toys for children- or big
kids. In our more environmentally aware era, many people would love a present
such as a beautiful plant, or even some seeds to grow when the weather warms, and
for the gardeners in your life there are plenty of great quality tools and garden
accessories.

Shevlins is a paint, household, furniture and furnishings, lighting, and giftware shop
that is a great place to pop into any time of year- but especially with Christmas
coming up.
If you have any bits and bobs, or even bigger jobs, to do to get your home shipshape
before entertaining guests, or feeling like you can relax yourself, there’s a great
range of products at Shevlins to help you out.
But just as importantly, there are loads of gift ideas and opportunities too. After all,
who amongst us doesn’t love a little something- or a big something- to make our
home feel more homely.
A family-centred business with nearly three decades of professional expertise at your

Slainte Healthfood is part of a family business, handed down by mother and father
and now run by Dawn alongside Davey & Paul in O’Donoghues Bakery. A focal
point of the community, Slainte Healthfood provides a homely touch in both its
products and its service. A very welcome alternative to multinational companies, this
is a place where locals feel comfortable and know they’ll get a warm welcome and
that special personal service.
Their popular cakes are currently selling like, well, hot cakes, with one of this year’s
best sellers for both Christmas tables and lovely presents being the Porter Cakes,
which are a less rich version of the traditional Christmas fruit cake.
There are also tons of scrummy puddings which loyal customers buy to enjoy over
the Christmas season for themselves and guests, and to give as gifts. There are a
surprisingly low amount of places in the country that do quality fresh puddings, and
Slainte Healthfood’s fresh cream cakes are a particular favourite of the community in
the run up to Christmas. There’s a broad variety of desserts available, including the
ever-popular cheesecakes, and while the store tries to add something new for
